Placemats

Calimesa this month made some pretty awesome placemats from a pattern some one picked up at the Rusty Barn Quilt and Craft fair in Pomona.  The project didn't take that long after you had all the pieces cut out.  Some people are going to have some really pretty holiday tables.

check out the project section of the website for instructions.

Redlands May Meeting

This shows just how confused I am...I have June Meeting before a May Meeting.  I went on Vacation in May and have been trying to get caught up on all the meeting stuff.

In May in Redlands one of the ladies showed us this great Puffie quilt.  So easy to do and looks so soft.  Don't you think?

You can count how many puffs to make this lap quilt but here is a picture of the puffs

the squares are 4.5 inches and the bottom is 3.5 inches.
Every side has a pleat.  Once you get the puffs sewn individually
you sew them togather using 1/4 inch seams...just like a quilt.

I don't know as this is something I would venture to do.  but the results of the quilt are really quiet cool.

Riverside June Meeting

After the business portion of the meeting was done
and people discussing what to do next

Gad's has it been a month since I blogged... no wonder no one follows this blog.
This months meeting in Riverside was well attend.  We recycled/remade/reused...whatever the catchword is today two men's sport shirts into an apron.

Two ladies working away on thier aprons.

This apron was made with a short sleeved "Hawaiian" shirt and a white dress shirt.  the top was made from the dress shirt and the cuffs were used to on the bottom of the pocket.

This is an example of one of the aprons.  the pockets are from the cufffs of the shirt.  the sleeve is cut just above the placket.  before sewing on the apron a pleat is made in the bottom of the cuff.

Cardigan in Calimesa

Today we made T-Shirt Cardigan from a pattern off of Nancy's Notions website.  The Cardigan is very very basic, but once done you can do a lot in regards to emblishments.

Everyone is busy working on the project.

This is the 6 fat quarter bags we did last month.  Not everyone got thiers completed several had
questions about the eleastic and how it's placed.

Next month we are going to be doing bound pockets...now wouldn't that look great on our new cardigan?

Judy Kessinger T-Shirt Class

On March 30th Judy Kessinger of fitnicesystem.com taugh us her magic of fitting, sewing and designing t-shirts, plus how to convert them into a woven shirt, jacket etc.  We were all amazed at her tricks and technics.  One thing she tolds us was to PLAY with your fabric and you'd be surprised at the outcome.
Here she is measuring one of the ladies.  She sat down with each of us, one on one to discuss our exact needs for cutting the fabric out.

This is the display table of her pattern and the different cd for variations and her display of the outfits she has made with her t-shirt pattern.  Quite a collections of crazy ideas but to see how they work is stunning.

Here is Judy instrucing us on how to draw the pattern out on pattern paper.  Make the basic pattern add length to sleeves and hem line but be SURE to follow the correct measurement for around the body.  You can always make it smaller but can't add on.

You can see a picture of all the GREAT and different t-shirts made by the ladies of ASG Inland Empire at the ASGIE.org website under events.

6 Fat Quarter Bags

Two groups (Redlands and Calimesa) have made the 6 fat quarter bags...  these things can hold a sewing machine they are so big.  but really great.  Here are three that were made in the Redlands group

The Calimesa group was just working on theirs so Next month I will see what they have made.

Because of the rain several regular class mates didn't come to the meeting in Calimesa. SO class was small but everyone got almost finished just lacked the handle on most.

Duck Taped Body Doubles

Monday March 7th the Riverside group had a blast
finishing up the duct tape body doubles. Their were
three of us who needed to get them complete. Others already had theirs done at last months meeting.  And were kind enuf to help us with ours.

This is mine completed.  Next week we will cut them apart so we can use them in fitting patterns.
We have selected 9 Patterns from Peggy Sagers top 9 Which we will make for the fashion show this fall.  I have already decided on the wrap skirt (as I already have that pattern)  I have my skirt almost done.  I need to add darts for a better fit in the back and I will have completed mine.

mini class computers

Today over in Riverside I held a computer class on Microsoft Word for those who were interested in learning the little information I know.  Great turn out of 8 people...who told me they got a lot out of the class.  It's so hard to teach a class where everyone is at such different levels of computer information.  Makes things more challenging.  Our next class will cover excel????

trip to La Puente

Friday several of us went to Sandra's fabric store in La Puente to pick up some Karen Kane fabric she had for sale.  We had a good time digging thru her bins for something we just couldn't live with out.  We met Two ladies from the Orange County ASG group and they also found some great finds.  This is some of the good stuff we found.

Fleece Jacket

The Redlands ASG Group had their meeting yesterday working on cutting out the fleece jacket listed on the project archives at www.asgie.org.  The blue fabric that was used as a demo was lite and easy to work with.  We didn't get the jacket completed....ran out of bobbin thread and thot that was a good quitting point.  Hope to see it next time.  We were lucky to have a visitor and really hope she will come back again.
